Paedodontics is synonymous with dentistry for children.
It includes preventive dentistry, operative dentistry, oral surgery, preventive and interceptive orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontal therapy and the treatment of oral diseases in children.  Paedodontics is one of the most important branches of dentistry.
The objectives of paedodontics is giving comfort, relieving pain and infection, allaying fear and anxiety and modifying child behavior and develop a positive attitude and behavior towards oral health in children. Early diagnosis of the disease and its treatment along with managing children with special needs is the top most priority of this department. Parental counseling and guidance regarding different facets of preventive dentistry and treatment modalities is carried out to promote future oral health of children. All these objectives and treatments are provided in highly equipped and child friendly environment in the Department of Paedodontics at Sardar Begum Dental College.
