It is that branch of medicine that deals with the application of knowledge & principles of medicine for the purposes of law both civil and criminal. Practically it is mainly related with the cases of physical assaults and postmortem examinations . These medico-legal certificates (MLCs) and the reports of postmortem are important documents in court of law and to the law enforcing agencies in the society. The department teaches the legal implications of the medical disorders in collaboration with department of pathology and hospital casualty. The training consists of theoretical lectures, demonstration of Medico-legal cases in the hospital and demonstration of substances, objects and instruments of Medico-legal importance.
