Ethical Committee for Research
The Ethical Committee for Research at Gandhara University ensures that all research activities meet the highest ethical standards. Their oversight fosters responsible and transparent research practices across the institution.
- To consider the ethical implications of all research involving human participants, the processing of personal data, or animal subjects carried out at City or under the auspices of GU, including the use of GU name and/or logo, or facilities for research purposes, and where GU is the data controller or processor.
- To set standards, propose and review policy, procedures, and practice on the ethical conduct of research throughout GU, including delegation of responsibility to colleges and Departments.
- To receive and advise on research proposals for the use of the name of GU in connection with all aspects of research involving human participants, personal data or animal subjects.
- In carrying out its responsibilities, to seek and take account of all appropriate advice from sources within and outside of GU.
- To report to ORIC at least once annually through the Chair of the Committee
- To receive appropriate reports from Departmental/School Research Ethics Committees
- To consider requests from external researchers wishing to recruit staff and students from GU for participation in research projects.
- To submit a copy of the approved minutes of each meeting to ORIC.
- To request resources and make recommendations for the investment required to fulfil these terms.
- Review proposals for funding from the University's unrestricted endowment for research, utilizing external reviewers as required, from the viewpoint of sound justification, method and other technical considerations, ability to undertake the work, and the University's priorities and resources for research.
- Recommend to the University ORIC the proposals to be funded.
- Review periodically the progress of research funded by the unrestricted endowment.
