One Year Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)" was inaugurated at Gandhara University in their constituent institution Bashir Psychiatric Hospital Institute.it is first of its kind in the country.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy ( treatment without the use of Medication ) which is helpful in many psychiatric and psychological conditions. CBT focuses on a person's thoughts that influence their emotions and reactions to real life situations.
Gandhara university (Bashir Psychiatric Hospital) has become the pioneer in starting a one-year diploma in CBT in September 2022,
Inauguration started with Recitation by Qari Abdur Rauf Madani.
The Chancellor of Gandhara University, Mrs. Roeeda Kabir, inaugurated the program and training session. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Ejaz Hassan Khan, welcomed the course participants from across the country. Twenty five candidates comprising of Psychiatrists and psychologists were selected from Baluchistan, Punjab , Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, KPK and the armed forces.
Dr. Bashir Ahmad, expressed his gratitude to Gandhara University for their support in starting this program and called it a historic day for the university.
Dr. Khalid Mufti the former principal Khyber Medical College Peshawar and CEO Ibadat Hospital congratulated university and emphasized the need for CBT training courses and it’s benefits to patients. Dr. Muhammad Irfan, head of psychiatry department Peshawar Medical College also addressed on the occasion and acknowledged university on achieving this wonderful milestone. Course participants also thanked the University and Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad for providing this wonderful training opportunity.
Inauguration was followed by three days skills building work.
